When Pete Townshend wore a pair of 1460 boots on stage in 1967, he catapulted Dr. Martens from a modest workwear brand to a world of guitars, stage dives and mosh pits. Music has been the heartbeat of DMs ever since. Now, in a long overdue collaboration, DMs pays homage to The Who with an AW19 collection.
The Who’s iconic tri-colour target is featured prominently in the range, as well as on-stage band stills. Shoes to t-shirts, every piece is designed to capture the scooter-riding, bespoke-suit-wearing, seaside town-crawling Mod aesthetic, and underpin it with DMs famed durability.
The 1460 boot, 1461 shoe and Adrian tassel loafer get The Who treatment with target iconography on the classic Smooth leather, as well as a red Dr. Martens heel loop and welt stitching, and a dual-branded sock liner.
Also starring are the Pressler and the Toomey: each emblazoned with the legendary mod iconography. The motifs continue along the vulcanised sole and the signature AirWair™ heel loop is also scripted with The Who. Inside, a dual branded logo is printed on an eye-catching red sock liner. All pairs of shoes are presented in bespoke packaging.
DMs small backpack makes an appearance in black Smooth leather – also printed with The Who’s target symbol.
Lastly, the collection includes two cotton t-shirts, one printed with the target symbol and the other with The Who motifs, plus a pair of socks in a soft cotton blend.
